Sourcing & Trademarks

What a piece has to clear before it appears on this site, and what we will and will not put on a design.

How a product gets chosen

For every category we compare what is available, check the maker's rating and order history, and read what buyers complain about. Several products you might expect to find here were never listed, because the only source we could find had six reviews and one unit in stock.

The photographs on a listing have to show the version that ships to you, not a different colourway from the same catalogue. Products have been pulled for failing that check.

Measurements

Sizes, materials and backings come from the manufacturer's own figures. Where a rival listing advertises a feature the item does not have, our page says so: other sellers list a thermometer on the compass watch, the maker specifies none, and our page prints that in writing.

If a number you need is not on the page, email admin@off8gear.com and we will get it from the maker before you order.

Designs, insignia and trademarks

Our designs are generic or historical motifs. Memento mori, SPQR, Saint Michael, the warning stamped on a Claymore mine, blood type panels. They belong to no one and we claim no exclusivity over them.

We hold no affiliation with, sponsorship from, or endorsement by the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Navy, the Finnish Defence Forces, or any military branch or unit. We reproduce no official service seal, unit crest, Naval Special Warfare Trident, or service medal. Those are protected marks, and selling reproduced decorations is a criminal offence in the United States under 18 U.S.C. § 704. Any product needing one of those elements never gets created.

Where a page names a historical operation, date, or place, that is public record used for commemorative context, the way a book or a museum caption would use it.
